Fall.

Looks like fall has come.  The vultures are heading south.  Happens every year about this time.  This morning there were 17 of them up in the trees outside the house.  While I was counting them, 5 more flew in.  Last year they got here just about dark, and rested the night in the trees.  Wilhoit must be a stop and rest area.  I would take some pictures,  but Phillip is spending the week up prospecting, and he has the camera.  Darn!

Damn grasshoppers have just about devoured everything except the weeds growing on the sewer line.  Just couldn't do that.  Too bad the vultures don't go for grasshoppers.  Would not have a one left it they did.

The Hawks would eat the grasshopper I bet.  A few years ago, Phillip and I were up in Williamson Valley, and coming home we saw hundreds of hawks on their way south, eating the grasshoppers and locusts in the new hay fields.  I did get pictures of them.  Talked to an old timer up there after that and he said the hawks rest there every year on their way south for the winter.

We need more rain. They say some is coming next Monday.  We'll see.  They do that all the time, then it never happens.  Hope they are right this time.

Got to go water the trees. hope the ones the grasshoppers ate all the leaves off, will come back.  The garden is in shreds, so I might as well not bother putting any water on it.  Just a waste.

Love ya'll, Granny.

Fall is here at last.  Been a hot lousy summer.  Oh it was a good one for Phillip, since he did real good prospecting.  But was a bad year for insects.  Name a bug, and we had them.  Had a real bad infestation of of grasshoppers.  There is jillions of them in our yard.  We got new trees this year and the damn grasshoppers ate every leaf off them, no matter how many times they were sprayed.  I don't know if they will come back from it or bot.  I'm surprised they didn't eat the leaves off the peach trees. they must not have liked them but the damn things sure liked the peaches.  Ate the hell out of them.  Same thing with the tomatoes, cukes and squash.  Ate the fruits but not the leaves.  We did get some cukes, beans and squash before they got too bad but the tomatoes are just getting ripe. Phillip put bird netting over them to keep the birds out, but the damn grasshoppers go right thru it.

Other than that, not anything else new around here.

Hope you all had a nice summer.

Howdy

HAPPY FORTH to all of you.... Good day to stay home and keep a watch
on things. Much too dry to go anywhere. Lots of stupd people down
here and too many fireworks..

Phillip put a fence around the flower garden in front to hopefully
keep the pigs out. Looks neat.

I guess he is going to look in the old orchard on the way to town and
see if there are a few more small trees to dig up. He will mark them
for when they are dormant. He dug a cherry after it set on leaves,
but it didn't make it. I think dormant will be better, like when he
dug the peach tree that gave us so much fruit last summer, and is
loaded again this year. It got fruit the 2nd year after he dug it.

I;m getting older.
Had to go to town today and now I'm tired. Going to go to bed pretty soon.

Hot

Hotter than hell again down here and the state is on fire again. None
close so far.

Runny nose, weepy eyes, sneeze cough. Sick? No, just got pollinated
again. Wind blowing all that pollen and dust all over. High wind
warnings for the last 4 days. Don't help the fire danger though. We
need rain bad.

Well every thing isn't bad news. Phillip has got most of the garden
in. Planted seeds he took fom the heirloom tomatoes he grew last
year. They were so good. We only had one plant last year along with
some other variaties, but this tear we have 6 good plants. We may get
a grape tomato plant though. Planted his own peppers this year. rhe
one he bought last year was a damn hot one that must have got the tag
switched. Pisser.

Tale care all.

Hot

Hotter than hell down here now. They have fires all over the place up
in the northern part of the state. Had no rain for quite a while now
down here. Looks like the prospecting is over now until we get rain
anyway. they are already shutting down parts of the forest. Water
was getting too low anyway. The blasted fire bug has already started
2 fires between here and the junction about 3 miles down the road. I
hope they catch that bastard before he burns this town down too.

Real smoky today. Wind blowing it in from the fires.

Hope all well with you guys. Lpve ya'll Granny.

Windy AZ

Windy here this morning. Phillip wanted to go prospecting while there
was still water but we don't like being up in the woods when the wind
is blowing so hard. Too many tall trees to fall down.

Went prospecting the other day. Phillip found a couple of small
nuggets with dirty looking quartz sticking to them. Gold sharp so
that means there is a bigger piece up there that is still breaking up.
Be nice to find it. Can't use a metal locator in this creek because
of all the hot rocks.

I have been coloring in my color book again. So darn many intricate
pictures in it. It's a break from the crossword puzzles and reading.
Lots of birds and animals to watch too.

I was going to paint but the sky is cloudy. Make for poor light in
here. Guess I'll play a puter game.

Love ya'll, Granny.

Night.

Went up prospecting today. Phillip did ok, but not fantastic. Not
too many campers out today. Was nice and warm and sunny too. In fact
I was looking for shade in the afternoon. We went shopping before we
went up in the mountains and I'm pooped.

Hope all well with all of you. I see on facebook, Ivt has wheels.
Good luck kiddo.

Sunny AZ

Too damn many people up in the woods camping now with this good warm
weather, so we don't go on the weekends because of that. Phillip
decided to empty his snifter bottle and get the black sand out of it.
Looks good. He has already put the old snifter bottle in jar and
added a couple drops of mercury to it. I don't know if he is going to
do the same with this or not. Maybe later after he finds out how the
other stuff turns out. All in all, it isn't such a bad turn out for
his efforts. We need more rain, River dropping to almost nothing.
Hard to make even a good panning hole.

Hope alls well with everyone, Love ya'll, Granny

Yesterday

Went up prospecting. Phillip did pretty good, but not like the day
before. He has just worn out the second suction tube. He relies most
on this tube to get the gold.. all that sand and gravel, finally
weares the inside of the tube so bad, no packing seems to work any
more. Besides that, they wear out too. This is what he calls his
dilemma. Hell he don't know what a real dilemma is. Look at ir rhis
way...Grandma wants to pretty up the out house, so she decides to give
everything a good coat of paint inside. You know, the old calsamine
paint they used in those days befor they had quick drying latex paint.
That done, she hangs a few pictures and then puts the lime in an old
cracked crock with a lid, instead of an open can with a tin cup. But
darn it, the stains are still visable on the toilet seat. What the
hell. Go get some of that old red barn paint and cover it up so the
stains don't show. After that's painted, she puts a rug in front of
the seat, pats herself on the back because all looks good.... Now
here comes a little 4 year old Grand-daughter who is in a BIG hurry to
go potty. Oh no! a red ring around butt. Now that's a dilemma I
tell him.
I'm afraid that didn't molify him any. He has to scrabble parts from
old tubes and other tubes he has to make another working tube.
Without a tube, he say's you may as well stay home. So you want to
be a prospector??

Take care, love ya'll, Granny

Friday

Another day here in sunny (today any way) AZ. Was slight wind as
always. We went up in the mountains to prospest. Phillip did, while
I held down a chair and read in the sunshine.. We saw a lot of deer
on the way up this AM. To close to the road for my liking. We did
see one poor little thing, so sickly looking just standing by the road
all alone. On the way out we saw a herd of guinnies.. I knew there
were turkeys but didn't know about the guinnie hens until today. Saw
one car pulled over to watch them. They are such big birds.

Phillip had another real good day. Got another nice nugget, plus a
lot of small stuff. Guess we will go up again tomorrow.

Getting close to my bedtime, so i will cut this short. I'm as tired
as if I worked all day.

Another day

Got up to more rain this AM. Lots of snow again in the mountains.
Good, Phillip loves it. More snow, more water. We went prospecting
again last Friday. Phillip was hoping to get another good nugget like
he got the time before. He did real good, but no big nuggets like the
one he took this pic of. I guess he plans on going up again
tomorrow.. Gonna be damn cold up there.

I worked on my prospector painting today and started another of a
desert scene. Might as well while I have all the stuff drug out. I
use up most of the paint I have on the palet that way. Less waste.
Stuff isn't cheap.

Getting close to bedtime and I still have some stuff to do.

Painting

Finished this up yesterday Finally. It seems like it took me a long
time to get it done how I wanted it. I still think I could have done
a better job, but I was getting tired of it. Now I want to get
working on the prospector one. I have the idea, just to put it down
on canvas is the next thing. Under painting done, but got to lighten
it up.

Went prospecting today and Phillip did real good.

Take care all.
Love ya'll. Granny.

Arrowheads

These aer a few of Phillip's latest finds. There are still some
things out in the rig he forgot to bring in. Will get them later.

Cool huh?

Howdy!

Morning all. It's raining out there this morning. Rained all night,
so will be nice and muddy for a bit. We really needed it.

Worked on my animal painting a bit yesterday but not finished to my
liking yet. Seems too dark, but nothing I can do abouy it now

We may go prospecting tomorrw, weather permitting.

Take care all. Granny.

Thursday, March 8, 2018

Out and about.

We went up to a new place in Williamson Valley to look for arrowheads.
I stayed with the car but Phillip hiked up in the hills for about 2
miles. He found a bunch of stuff. I will have to recharge the battery
for the camera so I can take pictures.

Still a bit of snow here in shady spots but it did get up into the
60's yesterday.
The rain passed by us to the north but looks like more coming next
week. We need it.
Phillip wanting to go prospecting since water is running but his back
is still bothering him.

I want to finish the one painting I have started, but don't know if I
will get it all done today. I have to make the bear and the coon look
like real animals yet.

Take care, Love ya'll, Granny.

Wednesday, February 28, 2018

We got snow, and still snowing. I guess spring isn't here yet, even
though I saw some fruit trees blooming here in town. I guess they
won't have fruit this year because it dropped to 19 degrees one day
last week. Phillip said ours were still dormant.

Been busy painting. Working on 2 pictures right now. One of bear
growling at coon who is fishing and one with a prospector. Animal one
almost done.

Keep warm, Love ya'll Granny.

Friday, February 23, 2018

What?

Hey you guys. It's snowing out there.

Wednesday, February 21, 2018

Brrr!

Can you believe this crap? 21 yesterday morn and 23 this morn. Damn
cool for down here.

Keep warm. Granny

Monday, February 19, 2018

Almost bedtime.

What a day. We had it all. Rain, sleet, hail, snow, then the sun came out.
Never know what to expect next.
I think we are going to have the same tomorrow.

Keep warm.

Love ya'll. Granny

Howdy!

I decided to post a few of Phillips wheapons he made. This one is a
rib set in juniper root with obsidian chips along the edge. Cut your
head off .

We have been trying to stay out of the public places as much as we can
while the flu season is so bad down here. Went into town real early
the other day to get groceries before so many people got there. Too
damn many other people must have had the same idea because it seemed
like there were more people than ever in town. The blasted stores
don't stay open all night like they did in Idaho., or we would shop at
night.

Phillip hurt his back again while out prospecting. Been taking it
easy. We went out arrowhead hunting a few days in a row. Out
yesterday, but Phillip only found 3 real nice points. A lot of broken
ones though. Too much grass where we were parked for me to look even
iff I could get the walker around in it. Was a real grassy year this
year. Looked other years in this area, and hardly any grass. Every
year is different.

I wamt to do some painting today, but going to take a bath first.

Love ya a'll. Granny.

Morning!

We finaly got some much needed rain and snow. Didn't need the cold
though. 23 this AM. As Daddy would have said, " i's as cold as a
well diggers ass in Alaska".

Was nice last Monday when we went out on the desert though. We came
across an arrastra. Used for grinding up gold ore. I wan'ted Phillip
to get a picture of it , and I thought he did, but he was too busy
looking around. We did'nt find where they got their ore, but we will
go back out there to be sure. I'll take a picture myself then.
Jeannine should remember what they look like because she was with me
when we went up to the museum in Prescott, and they had one set up as
a display. There is another one out by Stanton, but it too isn't
complete.

Sunny right now. snow should melt. I'll bet the river is running
where Phillip prospects. Trouble is, he hurt his back up there on
thursday so will be a while before we go up again.

Take care all, love ya'll Granny

Saturday, January 13, 2018

Cold.

This was on Wed. We finally got some rain and during the night it
changed to freezing rain. We wanted to go down to the desert where it
was warmer for the day, but the car was covered in ice. Didn't get
out til yesterday. We went down and dug crystals at Date creek since
the ground had got soft with the rain. I dug a few, but can't get the
damn walker up the hill so had to be content to dig down at the
bottom. When I got tired I just sat and enjoyed the sunshine. Phillip
was in shorts as usual, but I did take my sweater off, it was so nice.

Cold again this AM up here on the bench. I doubt if we will head down
to the desert again until Monday. Too many people have the same
ideas. Was only 2 other cars out the other day. If you dig, then the
first thing, people hover over you and no place else. Sometime we can
get a tour out of them but not always. Just pests.

Maybe I'll pait today. Still working on a prospector one.

Take care, love ya'll Granny.

Rain?

It's been 4 month with no real rain. Rain and wind were predicted for
today. Well we got the wind all right and believe it or not, I
counted about 40 rain drops on the walk outside.
Hot damn as Daddy used to say.

Wednesday, January 3, 2018

Good night.
