Getting off of the couch

I got up this morning with the intent of going snowboarding at Copper. When I rolled out of bed I first checked to see how much snow they got. On Copper's website they listed 2 inches, not really much to get excited about. Then I looked at the I-70 traffic cams and saw traffic backed up and that the roads were icy. I figured it wasn't worth it and went back to bed. When I woke up I felt like a lazy bum because I had slept in 2 hours past the normal time I'm up and at em'. Something had to be done about my situation. So I threw on some hiking clothes; filled up a water bottle; grabbed my camera and jumped in the truck. I went for a hike on the north mesa which is one of two mesas that separate Golden from Denver and the western suburbs.
The weather was perfect. Lot's of sunshine and not too much wind with a temp in the low 50's.

Once I walked to the top of the mesa I was surprised to see that it was not all grassy fields.

Although there were lots of grassy fields.

Here's a birds eye view of the south mesa, Castle Rock and the Coors factory.

More caption fun.

Anything is fair game on Caption this. People, critters, scenery, weird, freaky, funny, funky, serious, I think anything anyone else would like to see and caption.
Even Jake's sneaky snake who creeps the sidewalk instead of the grass to tickle his underneath.

Phillip found these out on the desert.

Here's one for a caption

The past two pictures were definitely thought provoking and it was not a trivial matter to come up with a good caption. This is in the top 10 of my wacky pictures. I think this may inspire some creative captions. If you click on the image it will be enlarged so that you may get a better sense of why Steph and I drove by this and thought "what the... ?"

Here's to Something New.

Dave; I think you have a great idea there. I'll bet all of you guys have pictures that you can post for the rest of us to supply captions for. Why not put them on the blog and challenge all to caption them. ?

CAPTION THIS.

Spring!! Or what?

Phillip and I took a drive up Limestone canyon. Jeannine and Bruce aught to remember it, it was where we were down over the embankment picking petrified wood out of the fill across a wash. Well we found out where they got the fill dirt and did some poking around for more wood.
Took a lot of pictures and found a few arrowheads and a mono. Saw a cave where the Indians stayed but was fenced and on private property. We did find the remains of some very old wiki up bases that somebody had excavated already. Got pics and will post them another time .
We wondered if the road might still be a little muddy but even though there was still some snow under some of the trees, the road was deeply rutted but fairly dry.

Coming out we stopped for more pictures of the local flora. The cactus fruits on this one above look like tiny pineapples. They are edible. This flower was quite unexpected since there was snow not 6 feet away from it. Haven't the vaguest idea what it is.

To change the subject, I had another brain -echo that struck me as being very strange.
I dreamed Phillip and I were out hunting meteorites. I found one shaped like an elongated egg , coal black, very heavy and showed it to Phillip and then put it in my pocket. Then Phillip found one and showed it to me. It was identical to the one I found but it was cream color and light weight . I took the one from my pocket to compare with his and held it out on my hand next to his then both meteorites flew off swiftly in different directions. We picked them up and Phillip tried to hold them together but he did not have the strength to get them closer than 2 feet. They were not magnetic to each other but stuck to a magnet. I got to thinking of the power they gave off in repelling each other might be used to make a source to power a car
or something. Strange dream.
Speaking of dreams, it's past my bedtime......Granny
