Hi Everyone!
I haven't met most of you yet since I am relatively new to the family. So far, it is great being a Stoke!
Jason and I went to the Colorado School of Mines Geology Museum on Monday. It was amazing! We both thought that the collections easily rivaled the Denver Natural History Museum's collection. I am really taking a liking to the rhodochrysite :)

Glad I finally got it fixed where you can get aboard...I know what you mean by the Rhodo... I would love to get my hands on some of the clear crystals to facet...Phillip found some in a massive form in a pale pink, no crystals...It was mixed in with some quartz and moscovite... It looks like it may be compact enough to cut but have'nt tried it yet...Did they have any Star Saphire crystals from Montana there? Or maybe any Garnet crystals from Idaho? Just curious... Stop in often and check all the comments...Granny

There most likely were some star sapphire and Idaho garnets - we could have spent HOURS looking at the collection and still missed some things!!! Jason went back to the museum actually and took a bunch of pictures so we will send those out as soon as we can get the computer(s) up and working again. And of course, we can take you guys there when you come out in JUNE!!

I looked at all the pictures...It looks like they have a great collection there...They sure had a beautiful display area...Lots of nice uncrowded cases... MT. Tech. has a vast amount of different minerals but they are pressed for display space, so things looked a bit crowded... I thought the Denver site was a bit crowded but I think they were undergoing renovations or something when we were there...Granny
