This guy is the size of a dinner plate.
This one the size of a golf ball but is in fact a fungi.
This is a different wild geranium.
Top view of the dinner plate fingi. Got lots more but takes forever to upload so have to do it 3 or 4 at a time. Granny.

Out and about again
We went up in the hills and got some wild grapes. Phillip wants to make some grape and cactus fruit jelly. Got the grapes on monday and the cactus fruits yesterday. This place where we got the grapes is a prime arrowhead hunting area. I sat on my butt picking the grapes off the vines Phillip cut and he went arrowhead hunting. He found 3 good ones and I found a broken one right near where I sat. There are some huge walnut trees here. Some are about 200 feet tall. No nuts this year up here. They must have gotten frost about the time they bloomed. We got them here last year. There were some nuts down at the river this year but they were very small. Not worth the time to pick them up and certainly too hard to crack and get anything from.
We took a lot of pictures of flowers and things up here and down by the river. Will post them as time goes by.
This is the spot where we used to sit and put our feet n the water. With the monsoons, the river decided to be a river instead of a creek. Place by the fence is about 2 feet deep and lots of sand to sink into now.
A while back we picked some wild apples and Phillip put 8 gallon bags of them in the freezer to make sauce and stuff with. So far he made a batch of mincemeat while we still have green tomatoes. He has made a lot of different pickles too. Did I raise these guys right or what? He's talking about making his jelly today. He said he might even make a batch of wine but he has said that before. Who knows. Now that it has cooled off some he want's to get out more.

Got out.
Went to the dump Wed. then out to a place about 3 miles away. I got out in the bushes to look. Didn't find a thing but footprints and chips.
It was an overcast day so we decided to look for arrowheads. Have found a few in this area before. Monsoon rains might have washed some out. When we got there, a big telephone repair truck was parked just about where we could pull off the road. Phillip was ticked off because he thought he was blocking the only wide spot to pul off but he wasn't. The guy wasn't anywhere near the phone lines, he was out in the bushes looking for arrowheads i'll bet. We never did come across him and he had left the truck wide open. We were there for an hour but never did see him. We went on up the road about a half mile further to look and saw his footprints all over. This was at 9am, so he must have been Goofing off quite a while on company time. Rained the day before so he was there that morning. We came back past the truck on the way home and the guy was just getting into the truck at 10:30. I'd like a job like that.

make a friend connection on Facebook
Mom and Bob, ....Howard Estes and I are friends on Facebook...neither one of us gets on very much but if you do...friend him. He has some nice pics of his 2012 gold sluicing trip...lots of gold. I told him that you would get a kick out of his pics.
I would have won!
I just saw the pictures. Nice ones......If I saw them first, I would have won. I was just up Pine Creek a couple of weeks ago. Went all the way to Avery's old place (last house). Sure brought back many memories.

Another dull day.
This is a bunch of flax on the way to the river. The monsoons have brought out all kinds of wild flowers. Not to mention weeds that are ass deep to a tall indian. Phillip hasn't had to put a lot of water on the garden lately. He put some containers out to catch rain water as well. He has a great garden this year despite the critters.
Tomorrow we will make another thrilling trip to the dump. Might even go to the river if the sky isn't dripping. Whopee!!. I'm just getting a strong case of cabin fever I guess.

On the way to the river.
Taken on the way down to the river. These thorny flowers are all over along side the road. They are covered all over with thorns and they are an annual of some kind. I havent found them in the wild flower book, so I don't know what they are.
This is a fungi. I've never seen it before, so don't know what it is either. Just something that popped up after the monsoons.
This is a perennial vine. Have no idea what it is called. They also grow all over along side the road to the river. There is a blue morning glory that is an annual that grows all over on the way to Prescott. Didn't get a picture of them yet. We did have one come up in the yard last year but not this year.
